Support Texas First Responders Through the Back the Badge Foundation
Abilene’s former Police Foundation, now known as the Back the Badge Foundation, is calling on the Big Country to step up and support our area’s first responders, and there's an opportunity to do just that.

From Tamolly’s to Today
Years ago, Townsquare Media and the Abilene Police Officers Association hosted a community breakfast at Tamolly’s Mexican Restaurant. Attendees weren’t handed a bill, instead, they were asked to donate what they could. All funds went directly to support Abilene Back the Badge.
Since then, the organization has evolved. The Abilene Police Foundation is now the Back the Badge Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves not only the Abilene Police Department but also the Abilene Fire Department and Taylor County Sheriff's Office.
Funds raised help cover medical expenses, assist families of fallen or injured officers and provide vital equipment for emergency personnel.
The Sporting Clay Classic Needs Sponsors
The Back the Badge Sporting Clay Classic will take place on Saturday, June 7 at Abilene Clay Sports, with a sponsor party on Friday, June 6. The weekend features food, raffles, firearm demonstrations, and a full day of shooting for teams in two rotations.
Sponsorship levels range from $250 (Cadet) to $7,500 (Title Sponsor), with options for businesses of all sizes to get involved. All sponsors receive varying levels of recognition across printed materials, signage, website listings, and more — many also include complimentary shooter spots and gifts.
Individual shooters are also welcome to register and participate. Those without a business to sponsor can still show their support by entering the shoot or attending the sponsor party.
For full event details or to become a sponsor, visit AbileneBTBFoundation.org or follow Back the Badge Foundation on Facebook.
Join Us On Air
In the coming weeks, Phil Sage, President of the Foundation, will join me on air, alongside Sergeant Andrew Mason (APD Traffic Division) and Dispatch Head Lindsay Hoxie. We’ll share more on the mission, the event, and how your support helps first responders in real, tangible ways.
This effort is personal for me, I’ve worked closely with our police and fire departments for years, and I hope we can meet our fundraising goal together.
Let’s show the men and women who protect us that we’ve got their backs.
