Every year, hundreds of Dachshund lovers gather in Abilene for one of the most entertaining fundraisers in the Big Country, the annual 2025 Dachshund Races and Rescued Dog Reunion, hosted by Rescue the Animals. And this year, on Thursday, June 12th, the event was bigger and bolder than ever.

Over 230 dachshunds registered to race, drawing in families, photographers, and dog lovers from all across Texas. If you missed it, don't worry, I've got you covered with a full photo gallery featuring the cutest wiener dogs you'll ever see in action.

Emceeing the Chaos (and Cuteness)

I, Rudy “Fearless” Fernandez, had the honor, yet again, of serving as Master of Ceremonies, a role I’ve proudly held for well over a decade. Watching those tiny legs dart down the race lanes never gets old. It’s not just a race, it’s a joyful celebration of furry friendship and community spirit.

Whether they ran straight, turned around halfway, or stopped for belly rubs, every pup brought their own personality to the track. And the crowd? Electric.

More Than Just a Race, It’s a Rescue Mission

This isn't just about who’s the fastest sausage on legs. The Rescue the Animals event raises funds and awareness to help save dogs and cats in danger. From abandoned strays to injured pets, Rescue the Animals works tirelessly to find them loving, responsible homes. Supporting this event means saving lives, one tail wag at a time.

See the Joy for Yourself

If you couldn’t make it out this year, I’ve got you. Click through our gallery of photos showcasing the racers, the reunion, and all the heartwarming moments in between.
