Across Texas, children enter foster care every day due to neglect, abuse, or trauma. When that moment happens, they don’t just need a place to stay. They need stability. They need patience. They need a safe home where they are genuinely cared for.

Texas Kids Need Stability - New Horizons Steps In

For more than 50 years, New Horizons Keeping Kids Safe has been changing the lives of children across the Lone Star State, including right here in Abilene and the Big Country. The Council on Accreditation nationally accredits them, and they are a TBRI Certified Agency, using a proven, trauma-informed approach that helps children heal through trust and connection.

These are kids who deserve to know what it feels like to walk into a home and feel safe. A home where they matter.

What New Horizons Provides

New Horizons keeps kids first. Their programs include:

  • The Ranch (Brownwood area): A residential treatment program for children recovering from severe trauma.
  • Audrey Grace House (Abilene): A community-based residential program offering healing and support.
  • Foster Care and Adoption Services: Training and licensing foster and adoptive families throughout Abilene, San Angelo, Brownwood/Goldthwaite, and Weatherford.
  • Free Counseling Services (FAYS Program): In-home or school-based counseling for families in crisis.
  • Family Center Counseling: Therapy for children currently in foster care and their families.

Their philosophy is simple: children are first. Every decision made centers on what is best for that child.
