To help keep Texas beautiful, it's a great idea to make sure you chunk your junk so it's not all piled up in front of your house. But knowing what you can or can't throw away is key as some items may be flat-out illegal to throw in the dumpster.

Litter Problem In Texas

According to Don't Mess With Texas, the Lone Star State has a bit of a problem when it comes to trashing up the roads. In fact, 47% of all trash found on the roadways is the result of motorists tossing out their cigarette butts, or that finished bottle of Dr. Pepper.

So, it's a good idea to make sure that you are disposing of your trash properly. However, not everything can go in the dumpster.

What Is Illegal To Throw In The Trash In Texas?

It's common knowledge that things like paint, oil, or tires are illegal to put in the garbage. Now, I don't think the cops are gonna come raid your house and put you in the slammer if you get busted for throwing some of these bad things away. But, you'll likely get a hefty fine if the city finds that you are habitually throwing these things away.

As I mentioned in the gallery, I just found out that putting grass clippings in the dumpster in Abilene is a no no. In most cases, they simply won't take your trash that day. In some cases a fine has been implemented.

The best-case scenario is to always be responsible when throwing away certain things. After all, we're trying to keep Texas beautiful.
