However, in recent years, many shops have closed for Thanksgiving Day, offering only their online platforms for consumers and giving employees time off with their families.

I think it's cool these retailers shut down for Thanksgiving, allowing employees to watch football, grub down on turkey dinners with their families, and slip into a food coma. Honestly, I think more businesses should follow suit.
