Softball Hail Smashes Car Windshield in West Texas
So these two rascals were just minding their own business, driving down Interstate 20 between Colorado City and Big Spring in our great state of Texas, when they were hit by a thunderstorm that was dropping enormous hail out of the sky. While hail is not unusual in Texas, this event was especially violent. Meteorologists say storms like this can develop rapidly during late spring and early summer, particularly in the High Plains region. The sheer size and velocity of the hailstones suggest an exceptionally strong updraft within the storm, capable of holding hail aloft long enough to grow dangerously large.
The moral of the story? Do not drive in a thunderstorm in Texas if at all possible, but if you have to, and your lady is with you, maybe bring some earplugs.😬
