We're so used to the Dallas Cowboys playing on Thanksgiving year after year. This year they will be playing in their sixth Christmas Day game. Let's see how the Boys do on this holiday.

Just wanted to say Merry Christmas to anybody reading this today. It's very weird to be getting ready to watch a Dallas Cowboys game today, but it's not the first time this has happened. In fact, the first time this happened was actually a VERY important game in Dallas Cowboys history.

December 25, 1971 Dallas VS Minnesota

Nowadays we're used to the NFL playoffs starting in January. The season was much shorter years ago and the Dallas Cowboys divisional game was scheduled for Christmas Day in 1971. The Dallas Cowboys would win this game on the way to their first ever Super Bowl in franchise history.

Back before divisional realignment. The Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys were in the same division. Around this time, the Dallas Cowboys had quite the winning streak against the Cardinals and this game would be no different with the Cowboys winning 37-13. This would be the final regular season game of this season before the Cowboys would go onto win their fifth Super Bowl in franchise history. Sadly, Christmas Day starts to go south after this game.

Not going to sugarcoat this one, it sucked. Dallas gets blown out in the final regular season game of the 2000 season 31-0. This is when you see the dynasty fading away. No more Michael Irvin, no more Deion Sanders, no more Daryl Johnston. The 2000 Dallas Cowboys went 5-11 and after this year, Troy Aikman would retire as well.

The only time so far the Dallas Cowboys have played at home on Christmas Day was in 2006. This was a huge game because it was the first Dallas Cowboys home game for Terrell Owens against his old team the Philadelphia Eagles. This was also Tony Romo's first season as the starter for the Dallas Cowboys replacing Drew Bledsoe around two months prior. Sadly, another loss for the Cowboys with Philadelphia winning 23-7.

Exactly 25 years after the last Dallas Cowboys Christmas game in Arizona. It's a whole new team and a whole new stadium as well. 2010 was a weird Dallas Cowboys season. Wade Phillips became the first Dallas Cowboys coach to be fired in the middle of the season and the man known as 'The Clapper' Jason Garrett would take over as his replacement. Somehow was able to coach this time for NINE years. Jason's half season as the Cowboys coach in 2010, he went 5-3. Sadly one of those losses was this Christmas Day game. Losing a close one 27-26.

We will have to wait and see how this Christmas goes with the Dallas Cowboys traveling to Maryland (Washington does not play in Washington D.C. fun fact). Kickoff is set for noon on Christmas Day with the game airing on Netflix. Currently the Cowboys are 2-3 on Christmas games.
