Here’s a spooky statistic right in time for Halloween. It might even be enough to give you nightmares. Ok, maybe that’s a bit drastic, but you never know.

I’ll go ahead and admit it right here in front of God and everybody – I absolutely believe in ghosts. It wasn’t always like that, though. I doubted their existence for many years.

And then I moved into a house in Vernon, Texas, that convinced me otherwise.

From Skeptic to True Believer

That house (which also happens to be an old church, for what it’s worth) is as haunted as it gets. My roommates and I heard the same things, but usually at different times, since I worked nights and they worked the day shift.

We all heard hammering, a little girl talking, and soulful gospel singing. It got to the point where we could complete each other’s sentences when telling a story about something we heard. There was also a time when a picture on the end table next to the couch I was lying on fell over, with no explanation.

One of my roommates said they were fine with it, as long as they didn’t see a ghost. At that point, it would be time to get the hell out of there.

Texas Tops the List for Ghost Sightings

I guess we should consider ourselves lucky, because Texas is the state in which you are most likely to see a ghost, according to a study by The Action Network. There have been 7,641 reported ghost sightings in the Lone Star State. After doing the math, researchers determined 1 in 4,168 Texans will see a ghost.

Good luck not thinking about that when you crawl into bed tonight.
