First-Time Visitors Shocked After Being Kicked Out of Buc-ee’s
Around this time exactly two years ago, a couple’s long-awaited first trip to Buc-ee’s took a wild turn when they got kicked out before buying anything.
Two years later and the reason the couple was kicked out is still one of Buc-ee’s most controversial rules. What started as a simple first-time visit turned into a moment the couple says they’ll never forget.
Dawn and Richard Thompson pulled into Buc-ee’s excited to finally experience the legendary beaver empire for themselves. They walked in, grabbed a few outfits for their grandkids, checked out the jerky wall, you know, the usual first-timer routine.
But in the middle of browsing, two Buc-ee’s employees approached them with a strange question:
“Is that your truck outside?”
When the Thompsons confirmed it was, everything changed. They were suddenly told they weren’t allowed to buy anything and needed to leave the store immediately all while Dawn was still physically holding the items she planned to purchase.
Confused, they followed the workers outside, only to learn the reason: Buc-ee’s strict and infamous policy of “NO 18-WHEELERS ALLOWED.”
The issue? Their semi wasn’t even a full 18-wheeler. They were bobtail( no trailer attached) taking up only two parking spots tucked away in a quiet area of the lot. Meanwhile, RVs taking up the same amount of space were left alone. “How are we any different than an RV?” Richard asked. “This is where we live.”
The incident reignited an old frustration among truckers. Back in 2018, the blog America Over the Road blasted Buc-ee’s for the exact same policy, calling it “annoying” and “offensive,” especially considering Buc-ee’s relies on truckers to deliver nearly every product in the store.
Two years later, the question still lingers:
Why are bobtails banned when RVs aren’t?
