Car Bought On Facebook In Houston Catches Fire 20 Days Later
A woman in Texas is currently trying to figure out how to get a new vehicle following one she purchased catching fire while she was driving it. Where did she get it from? Here's what is known at the time of writing.
When Did The Incident Occur In Texas?
According to Click2Houston, the situation happened on March 27, 2025. Jayanna Williams, who bought a 2006 Nissan Murano on Facebook, was driving around Houston in her car. The main use for the vehicle to assist in paying for medical education by delivering items.
Unfortunately, while she was behind the wheel, an unknown driver began to get her attention. The driver alerted Williams by saying “Your car is on fire! Your car is on fire!” Thankfully, Williams got out of the car unharmed.

Per Williams, “I’m so glad that I did because if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have been able to get out of the SUV because at that point, everything in the SUV literally melted down to the metal."
Was Williams Able To Contact The Original Owner?
Click2Houston revealed that Williams made an attempt to talk to the original seller of the vehicle, but it didn't go as planned:
“I tried calling the seller after the incident, but [they] blocked me, and I haven’t been able to reach [the seller]...It’s just [a] very terrible situation. And it hurts me more to know that somebody could have done this to me purposely and knowing that there were issues with the SUV and they still sold the SUV to me because…I am a young female.”
Also complicating matter is that the Lemon Law in Texas doesn't apply. Due to the fact that the vehicle was both used and purchased privately, the law can't help Williams get a new car. Williams also needed to begin a GoFundMe to obtain money for both a new car and replacements for important items lost in the blaze.
As this developing story, we will have more information if it becomes available.
