Odessa-Midland, Texas! Don’t Forget To Move Your Clocks Forward This Weekend
Permian Basin, if you are tired of the nights starting early, that is all about to change.
I am not a fan of it getting darker earlier. Sunshine gives me life and I am ready for the warm weather that comes with it.
This is also a huge plus because we try to walk our doggo as late as possible while there is still sunlight. That's hard to do when it gets dark at 6 PM.
Daylight Saving Time
This is the time of year when we lose an hour of sleep because time is going to shift ahead an hour.
According to USA Today, since 1918, daylight saving time has been observed with two time changes each year. It is the time between March and November when you move clocks forward an hour.
In March, an hour is lost to have more daylight during the summer time.
Why do we have daylight saving time?
Romers always said that it was so farmers could get an extra hour of sunlight in the evening, but that isn't true. The trust is farmers fought to get rid of daylight saving time in 1919.

According to the Farmers Almanac, the purpose of moving the clocks twice a year is to take advantage of the "extra" sunlight. Technically when we "spring forward", we aren't saving time. We are giving up some sunlight in the morning to add it to the evening.
One thing I can say is how you feel about Daylight Saving Time depends on if you are a morning bird or a night owl.
When do you move your clock forward?
Get ready because on Sunday, March 9th at 2 AM time springs forward an hour.
