Does Odessa’s Music City Mall Decor Contribute To Its Decline?
Ask anyone who has spent an extended time in Odessa, Texas and they will tell you about the infamous Music City Mall. Originally constructed in 1980, the mall has seen its fair share of changes over the decades. However, one thing seems to be certain to never change- the carpet!
The mall houses major companies and brands such as JCPenney, Burlington, Dillard's, plus others. However, it has an undeniable vibe of a declining venue. A former shell of a once bustling addition to the city of Odessa, TX.
Locals have never been coy when it comes to casting judgment on the mall as a whole oftentimes turning to social media to voice their displeasure.

When asked, most people will bring up the mismatched and dingy carpet as one of the main culprits as to why the mall is not Odessa's top spot when it comes to all their shopping needs. Music City Mall still generates revenue despite being the butt of jokes and accusations from locals that it is facing its final days before it closes down entirely. However this brings up the question of if the carpet was replaced, would it still be faced with the same reputation? If the decor was upgraded with a more modern feel, would it change anything? Or, is the decor the real reason why some people tend to stay away?
