This Texas School District Is Giving Free Dinners to All Kids
Back-to-school season in El Paso means that many parents must prepare to open their wallets for new clothes, school supplies, haircuts, and groceries if they make their kids lunches. Well, one local school district is hoping to help ease some of that spending by offering FREE dinner for local students.
Starting Monday, August 4, kiddos ages 1 to 18 can snag a FREE dinner, no questions asked and it’s all thanks to The Canutillo Independent School District.
Whether your child goes to school in the district or not, they can swing by and grab a hot meal Monday through Friday from 3:15 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Here is where students can grab free dinner:
- Childress Elementary – 7700 Cap Carter Rd.
- Canutillo Elementary – 651 Canutillo Ave.
- Davenport Elementary – 8401 Remington Dr.
- Garcia Elementary – 6550 Westside Dr.
- Damian Elementary – 6300 Strahan Rd.
According to a post shared on the Canutillo ISD official Facebbok page, This program is made possible thanks to the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
"Meals are served fresh daily by our trained nutrition staff and meet all federal standards for healthy eating."
So whether your kid just finished practice, needs a little fuel for homework time, or just wants something warm and tasty, Canutillo ISD has got you covered. No student ID? No problem. No need to enroll in their schools either. This is open to every Borderland child as long as they are within the age range of 1 to 18 years old.
Friendly reminder: tell your mom group, your neighbors, your comadres, and your tia who watches five kids after school. Because free food? That’s a win in our eyes!
