It was just last year when El Pasoans were asking the question: “What happened to the Great Khalid Foundation?”

An article was shared by El Paso Inc. which shared details about the organization stopping operation back in June of 2024.

Fast forward a year later and the organization is back and they are giving back to students in the community with a brand-new music education space for local youth.

Yep, the same Khalid who gave us hits like Location and Talk is now giving El Paso teens a place to create, vibe, and chase their musical dreams. The new space, located inside the Boys & Girls Clubs of El Paso’s flagship building at 801 S. Florence Street officially opened its doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the heart of Segundo Barrio.

“This project represents everything Khalid stands for – music, education, and giving back to the community,” said Linda Wolfe, executive director of the foundation and mom of Khalid himself.

The new space was designed with all the right vibes to inspire young artists. According to a press release, it’s all about “fostering creativity, skill-building, and a love for music.” Translation: local teens now have a spot to actually chase their musical dreams instead of just jamming out in their bedrooms.

So while Khalid might be out collecting Billboard Awards and Grammy noms, he’s also making sure El Paso’s next generation of musicians has everything they need to shine. Now that’s what we call a hometown hero.
