West Texas Rehabilitation Center’s Quilt, Afghan and Fiber Showcase is set for this Friday,at the Stephens Central Library in San Angelo.
Quilts, afghans and wall hangings which are donated to WT Rehab’s Telethon auction will be on display on the 22nd from 10 am to 5:30 pm in the Community Room.

All of the donated works also will be featured on the Center’s auction website beginning around mid-December and will be auctioned to the highest bidder during Rehab 2014 Telethon slated January 18.

Each year, hand-crafted fabric items generate between $35,000 to $45,000 for Rehab Center treatment programs for children and adults working to overcome the disabling effects of illness or injury.

Also, during the showcase local quilters will be working on a project in which the public is invited to observe and/or participate.

Rehab Center quilting volunteers Lynette Lange and Alice Glass encourage all fabric artisans  to take advantage of this opportunity to network with other needle workers and for attendants to view original works which promote locally grown fibers from West Texas farms and ranches.

Since 1953, West Texas Rehab’s mission has been to improve the quality of life for every child and adult who seeks its services, regardless of financial circumstance. A private, non-profit organization, WTRC has outpatient facilities in Abilene, San Angelo and Ozona, and treats approximately 500 patients daily.
