For the second time in three seasons, the Texas Tech Men's golf team has been named the number one team in the country.

The Red Raiders were named the top team in collegiate golf in the GolfStat poll.

The Texas Tech team is led by Ludvig Aberg, the top-ranked player in the world amateur rankings, and the team has recorded three consecutive top three finishes. Aberg also led the Red Raiders to a win at the Inverness Intercollegiate in September.

Texas Tech is also led by Calum Scott, who finished third in an event already this season. The golf team expects big things this season from the pair of Aberg and Scott, who are both ranked inside the top 10 of individual players released by GolfStat. Scott ranks 6th, while Aberg is right behind at 8th.

Texas Tech and Illinois were the only two teams to land two players inside the top 10. This is a big reason why GolfStat named Texas Tech as the number one overall team heading into the collegiate season.

The golf team was ranked 5th overall in a separate poll released by Golfweek.

Texas Tech Golf returns to action next week for the Big 12 Match Play event. That event will run from October 17th to 19th and will provide a glimpse of what might happen in Big 12 play this season.

It also provides another chance for Aberg, Scott, Jack Wall, Tyran Snyders, and Matthew Comegys to smash the ball onto some fairways, hit some GIRs and knock a few putts in.
