960 KGKL-AM To Become ESPN 960 on September 1, 2020
KGKL-AM will be San Angelo’s only All-Sports radio station

SAN ANGELO, TX – AUGUST 25, 2020 -- Starting September 1, 2020, San Angelo’s oldest radio station, KGKL-AM, will start a new period in its history by becoming San Angelo’s first 24-hour All-Sports radio station.

Townsquare Media of San Angelo has signed an affiliation agreement with ESPN Radio and KGKL-AM will become ESPN 960, San Angelo’s Sports Station.

ESPN 960 will keep its current affiliations with the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers, plus air national play-by-play from ESPN Radio; which includes Major League Baseball, the NBA, college football postseason bowl games, and the College Football Playoff.

“We are excited to usher in this new era for KGKL-AM, by bringing back the ESPN Radio affiliation to San Angelo, and KGKL-AM, with ESPN 960,” said James Pickens, Market President and Chief Revenue Officer for Townsquare Media of San Angelo. “Our long-time affiliations with the Cowboys and Rangers are also strengthened by the launch of ESPN 960.”

ESPN 960 will air ESPN Radio’s new morning show starring Keyshawn Johnson, and has also added affiliations with Texas Motor Speedway and Brent Musburger’s Vegas Sports and Information Network.

West Texas sports fans will get a chance to sound off daily on ESPN 960 through the Lubbock-based Ryan Hyatt’s Raiderland. Airing weekdays from 11am-1pm, Ryan Hyatt’s Raiderland featuring Rob Breaux will cover everything going on with the Cowboys, Rangers, Texas Tech, NFL and the Big 12.

“We’ve valued West Texas for decades in how we host our daily shows and cover the teams,” said Ryan Hyatt. “I couldn’t be prouder that the show Rob Breaux and I have put together now expands to San Angelo on ESPN 960.” Hyatt also plans to add Angelo State content to the show, when the Lone Star Conference resumes play in football and basketball in 2021.

Religious programming heard for decades on KGKL-AM will remain a part of the lineup on Sunday mornings on ESPN 960. This includes weekly services from First Presbyterian Church of San Angelo, the Businessmen & Women’s Bible Class, The Lutheran Hour, and The FLOT LINE with Rick Hughes.

Finally, ESPN 960’s programming will be streamed online through an updated website and an updated App for Apple and Android devices.
