DALLAS (AP) — A man has been sentenced to 99 years in prison after pleading guilty in the death of a 16-year-old girl who authorities say was riding in her family's car when the man's vehicle slammed into it while he was fleeing a robbery in Dallas.
Twenty-eight-year-old Angel Palomo pleaded guilty Monday to murder. A jury sentenced him Wednesday.

Angeles Ipina suffered massive head injuries in the December crash and later died.

The Dallas Morning News reports Palomo and another man had just held up two people in a parking lot when they took off in a sport utility vehicle. Fleeing the police, Palomo hit the sedan in an intersection.

In closing statements, defense attorney Kevin Brooks painted a picture of a man with a difficult upbringing and little family support.
