Back Yard Basics Features Fresh Eggs & Small Space Gardens
The Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service in Tom Green County will have the final session of a new educational series called “Backyard Basics.” On Tuesday, September 15th everyone can learn about Square Foot Gardening, and backyard chickens. The session starts at 6pm at the Tom Green 4-H Center, 3168 N. US Highway 67 (next to the animal shelter).
In this two part session, learn how to produce fresh, delicious eggs on a small scale. Josh Blanek, County Extension Agent - Agriculture will provide the info. Also, certified Square Foot Gardening instructor Ron Knight, also a Concho Valley Master Gardener, will teach the basics of Square Foot Gardening. Learn how to produce a lot of food in a small space!
The San Angelo Backyard Basics series emphasizes food production on a small scale, and shows ways to grow food in an urban landscape. You don’t have to live in the country or have a big plot of land to be productive and grow your own fresh food!
Please call the Extension Office to RSVP so enough handouts will be available: 325-659-6528. The cost to attend is $20 per session, which can be paid at the door.
