El Paso Testing Scandal Investigation Continues

EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Some current and ex-staffers of a West Texas school district recovering from a testing scandal could face sanctions imposed by state education officials.
The Texas Education Agency is letting past and present El Paso Independent School District educators know if they are under investigation and possibly face administrative hearings.

The El Paso Times (http://bit.ly/15R3KIo ) reported Tuesday that the TEA hasn't said which educators could face sanctions, ranging from reprimands to revocation of teaching certificates. TEA spokeswoman DeEtta Culbertson says the process is ongoing.

Disgraced former Superintendent Lorenzo Garcia pleaded guilty to fraud in the testing scandal involving federal accountability standards. Garcia was sentenced to more than three years in federal prison.

Recently-hired Superintendent Juan Cabrera Jr. says the district is aware of the letters but isn't involved in the process.
