Fed’s Open Flood Recovery Centers In State

ORANGE, Texas (AP) — Federal disaster recovery centers have opened in Southeast Texas where devastating floods swamped roads and a town.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency on Wednesday announced recovery centers are open in Newton, Jasper and Orange. The assistance is meant for people whose homes or businesses were affected by storms, tornadoes and flooding that began March 7.

Representatives from FEMA and the Small Business Administration are available during regular business hours Monday through Friday, then from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. CDT on Saturdays, until further notice. Texas officials will also be on hand to explain disaster assistance programs and help victims apply.

Interstate 10, at the Texas-Louisiana state line, was closed for a time during early-March flooding that also inundated the town of Deweyville, about 100 miles northeast of Houston.
