On Tuesday, San Angelo Police Officers responded to a major crash in the 4400blk. of Knickerbocker at about 6:35pm. The crash involved a 2009 Silver Dodge Ram P/U and a black passenger car.
Upon arriving officers began to divert traffic while the Fire Department checked on all parties involved in the crash. A total of two ambulances were dispatched to the scene and two subjects were transported to Community Medical Center for minor injuries. One of the subjects was identified as Jeremy Todd Johnson and the other subject was a six year old boy.

As Officers began to investigate the crash Officer D. Welch went to Community Medical Center to meet with the subjects transported from this crash at which time he spoke with Jeremy Johnson. When PO Welch made contact with Mr. Johnson he smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath.  PO Welch advised Mr. Johnson he was following up on the crash. At this time Mr. Johnson agreed to a Standardized Field Sobriety Test which he failed. Mr. Johnson then refused to cooperate any further with the investigation at this time.

Det. Elkins was contacted due to Mr. Johnson being arrested for Felony DWI due to a child being in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The child was younger than 15 years of age. Det. Elkins applied for and received a Search warrant to obtain a blood specimen from Mr. Johnson by a District Judge.

Mr. Johnson was then transported to the Tom Green County Jail for Felony DWI. (This is a State Jail Felony)
