GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — Investigators say one person has been killed and four hurt in an apartment building fire in Southeast Texas.
Galveston Fire Department officials say the blaze was reported around 5 a.m. Friday at a five-story building near the downtown area. Authorities are trying to determine what sparked the third-floor blaze at the Justine Apartments.

Firefighters helped get five people out of the burning structure. One man was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other four victims were treated at the scene for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Chief Mike Wisko says the fire was contained to one unit and the man who died was from that apartment. His name wasn't immediately released.

The fire was put out within about a half-hour of being reported.
