Several weeks ago Kyle Jacobson and I started a podcast focused on sports wagering. Not just any sports wagering, the bets are all related to Texas Tech, the Big 12 and college football. There will be no horse racing plays discussed on our podcast. The name of the podcast is Gamblin' Gauchos which some would say was a precursor to our beloved Matadors.

You can listen to the back catalog of the Gamblin' Gauchos to catch up with episodes one through three listed on the website here: Gamblin' Gauchos. You can also catch segments from Ryan Hyatt's Raiderland there OnDemand.

Former Texas Tech quarterback BJ Symons joined the podcast this week to preview the Red Raiders’ season opener, make some Week 1 picks, and talk about his playing days in Lubbock.

Symons and the guys discuss a multitude of lines and give some leans and locks before sharing some old stories from Symons' time at Texas Tech including him wearing 21 and four before switching to his now-famous number two uniform. We also discussed how prolific Symons was at trash-talking and his record that may never be broken.

I also asked BJ about the validity of the legend that the Britney Spears concert was canceled in Lubbock because Kliff Kingsbury had distracted the pop star on her tour bus.

Gamblin’ Gauchos is now also available on Apple and Spotify, we’d be honored if you subscribed and gave us a rating. We’re also doing a giveaway from one of our sponsors, so tune in to learn more!
