Girl Scouts STEM Conference Registration Deadline Extended
Girls Scouts of Central Texas (GSCTX) is holding the STEM Conference on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 at Angelo State University. Registration deadline has been extended to this Thursday, February 16th, 2017.
Girl Scouts of Central Texas, Howard College and Angelo State University will host the STEM Conference for girls in grades 6-12 on Saturday, February 25th, at Angelo State University. This STEM Conference will enable over 200 Girl Scout and non-Girl Scout girls to explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Math with local engineers and professors.
Suddenlink and their parent company, Altice USA, is partnering with the Girl Scouts to enable as many girls as possible to attend this conference by underwriting the registration fee for up to 50 girls.
The one-day conference offers girls exciting and innovative workshops presented by local engineers, Howard College and ASU/STEM professors. The conference motivates young girls to become creative and innovative thinkers to meet 21st century challenges. Girls will have an opportunity to learn about everything from the Chemistry of Jewelry Making, Anatomy of a Rat to CSI Criminalistics. There will be 20 workshops offered during the day for girls. Samplings of other workshops include a Virtual Hospital, Building a Boat Challenge and “Can you boil water in space?”.
