Don’t Miss Out on Abilene ISD’s Spectacular Summer Feeding Program
The Abilene Independent School District's Summer Feeding Program is back for 2023. Beginning on June 5 and continuing until July 27, the program reminds us that "Hunger Doesn’t Take a Summer Vacation", and neither will the AISD Student Nutrition Department.
The Summer Feeding Program will be providing two meals per day, breakfast and lunch, and will be served absolutely free Monday through Friday. No meals will be served on Monday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth, or on Tuesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Every child age 18 and under can be fed at one of sixteen school cafeteria locations throughout Abilene. The most important thing to do right away is sign up.
Simply log onto the AISD's website, the AISD App, or reach out to the district office during business hours. Call (325) 677-1444 and ask for the Student Nutrition Department to sign up. The summer feeding program is absolutely free for all children within the Abilene school district.
All the children in the district need nutritious meals to learn, grow, and thrive, even when school is out. With the summer feeding program, children and teens can continue to eat healthy throughout the summer at no cost just by showing up at a participating meal site location. - Chelsea Diaz, AISD Student Nutrition Division
I recall the last time I enjoyed a meal at an Abilene school cafeteria, during one of the Arrow Ford Teacher Tributes. We were invited to stay and eat lunch while waiting for our next Teacher Tribute presentation. The food was excellent and the atmosphere delightful. It brought back many great memories. Abilene ISD advises all children to simply show up, eat right, and have fun.
