A Letter To Those Who Drive I-20 Between Abilene & Dallas
I'd prefer not to die in a car accident. Wrapped in a twisted mess of metal on the highway is just not the way I want to go. I've seen the ugly side of car wrecks. When I was growing up, I was involved in an accident that involved a fatality. That's a rough thing to go through. It messed me up for a long time. Vehicles can be killing machines. Just ask anyone who has ever been involved in a serious crash or a family member of someone who lost their life.
I bring all of this up because I almost lost mine recently on I-20. I'm sure you'll agree that semi-trucks are everywhere on that highway. I was trying to pass one on my latest trek to the metroplex. But alas, when I try to gain speed around the semi, this pickup truck car blows right up on my tail in the passing lane as if their cruise control is set at 120 mph. I thought I was going to get rear-ended. It's nerve-wracking, and it can kill somebody.
Look, we all have someplace to be. Slamming into the back of my vehicle is not going to get either of us there any quicker. As soon as I get around the semi-truck, I promise I'll let you speed right on by.
I love my life and the people in it. I love my job and don't want things to end anytime soon. It's a crazy enough world. Let's take it easy and be cautious and careful on the road. Thank you.
Speaking of being on the road, get your rides ready for another Cruise Night in Abilene on April 13th. Below are some of the sweet rides you could see this year.
