They're not the biggest cowboy boots in the world, those are in San Antonio, but they did come off the biggest Texan in the world and now they're headed for D. C.

Is this truly for an exhibit to celebrate state fairs and their history in the USA or is this some kind of payback for Texas getting the space shuttle Discovery away from the Smithsonian?

Either way, Big Tex is going to be barefooted for awhile, I hope he gets his boots back in time for the Texas State Fair's opening day September 26th. For more info on the Texas State Fair, click here.

Big Tex has been greeting state fair visitors for 73 years. The original one put in 60 years before he caught fire in 2012. That's when Big Tex 2.0 took over, 2025 will be his 13th year on the job.

Ironically, it was an electrical short in Big Tex's right boot that started the fire which ultimately burnt him to the ground.

Which Texas Boots Are Bigger?

The boots worn by Big Tex 2.0 were made by Luchesse, a world famous boot maker that is based right here in El Paso. They stand 23' high and are a whopping size 96. (PS: Big Tex won't be getting these back, he's getting a new pair.)

The other big azz pair of boots in Texas are Guinness World Record holders that were made by an El Pasoan. (Boots are "big ... pun very much intended ... here in El Chuco.) They have Big Tex's boots way beat at 35', 3". They're 33', 4" long and 9' wide.

I'm not sure what size that is ... maybe someone at Luchesse could help me out here?
