The Red Raiders have collected eight individual All-American honors after their third straight run to the Super Regionals ended at the hands of the Stanford Cardinal. Brooks Wallace Award winner Cal Conley and Jace Jung have been doing the heavy lifting as far as the honors go.

Jung was named to his team-high fourth All-American team on Friday when Perfect Game’s 2021 All-America First Team was announced. It's Jung's third First Team honor after the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association also bestowed him with a First Team recognition. His lone Second Team honor came from Baseball America.

Before this offseason is over, Jung is going to need a bigger trophy case. The freshman second baseman was already named Big 12 Player of the Year and a unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection. The NCBWA named him their National Freshman Hitter of the Year, their District 7 Co-Player of the Year, and a member of their District 7 First Team. He is also a member of the ABCA All-Region Team, a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist and a Dick Howser Trophy finalist.

That's pretty dadgum good.

Jung hit .337 in 2021 and led the Big 12 with 21 home runs, 67 RBI, and a .697 slugging percentage. All three of those categories all rank among the nation’s best. Additionally, he accomplished the rare feat of reaching base safely in every game during the regular season. Every game.

The best news here for Texas Tech fans is that Jung is not draft-eligible and will have one more season at Texas Tech to cement his name in the record books and make the Jung name truly legendary in Red Raider lore.
