Man Convicted Of Wire Fraud Faces More Time

DALLAS (AP) — A Dallas-area man who was convicted of fraud and skipped reporting to federal prison to serve nearly six years faces up to 10 more years behind bars.

Michael David Carroll of Irving pleaded guilty Tuesday to failing to surrender. Carroll remains incarcerated pending sentencing on that count, which must be served after completion of his first term.

Carroll in 2013 pleaded guilty to wire fraud in a salad restaurant franchise investment scheme. He was sentenced last March to 70 months in prison and ordered to repay $1.4 million.

Carroll remained free on bond until May. A judge then allowed a defense request to delay the surrender date to July, then to Sept. 15, but Carroll never showed up. A warrant was issued two days later.

Carroll surrendered on Sept. 18.
