Police Chase Results in Arrest!

Just after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, San Angelo Police observed a man they believed to be a wanted suspect operating a motor vehicle in the 2300 block of Sherwood Way in San Angelo.
A traffic stop of the vehicle was initiated in the 200 block of S. Pierce St.  The driver of the vehicle stopped momentarily for the officer but soon changed course and a brief vehicle pursuit ensued.

At speeds nearing 60mph, the suspect evaded police through the Santa Rita neighborhood before abandoning the vehicle in the 1400 block of W Avenue K.  The suspect then fled on foot to the 1300 block of W Avenue J. where he was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect was identified as George H. Walker.  Walker has been charged with an outstanding Parole Violation Warrant, Evading Arrest/Detention with a Vehicle, and Possession Marijuana <2 oz.

No one was injured during the chase.
