On August 6, 2013, at approximately 9:30 p.m., San Angelo Police were dispatched to the 5400 block of Woodbine to investigate the report of a prowler trying to gain entry into a residence.  Two San Angelo Police Officers and the suspect were injured during the investigation.
Prior to arriving at the residence, police received information from the resident that an unknown subject was attempting to gain entry into the home by breaking through the back door.  Once on scene, an officer responded to the back of the residence and made contact with a man who was holding a large metal object.  Additional officers arrived to assist and the man put down the object.  The man was agitated and appeared to be intoxicated.  As officers attempted to calm the man down, he continued to try to ram his way into the residence.  At one point during the incident, the man grabbed a metal piece from a broken patio chair and lunged towards one of the officers, striking and injuring him.  A brief struggle ensued and the man was eventually taken into custody.

The man, later identified as Tony Arroyo of San Angelo, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries he sustained in the struggle.  Upon his release, Arroyo was transported to the Tom Green County Jail and charged with Class A Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief, Class B Misdemeanor Criminal Trespass, Resisting Arrest, and Assault on a Public Servant.  Two officers who were injured during the incident were also transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries and later released.

After the incident, the resident showed police the property damage that was caused by Arroyo who used the metal patio furniture during his attempt to force entry into the residence.

Prior to the call, a citizen called police to report a male subject who was driving recklessly on Woodbine.  The caller stated the driver abandoned the vehicle before fleeing on foot.  Police located the 2001 Chevrolet Blazer in the middle of the roadway of the 5400 block of Woodbine.  Arroyo was later found to be the vehicle’s registered owner.  The vehicle was towed from the scene.
