DUNCANVILLE, Texas (AP) - A Dallas-area school district has suspended a teacher over what administrators call her "reprehensible" racially charged tweets on the killing of a black Missouri teen by a white officer.

Duncanville Independent School District trustees meet in special session Friday and could fire Vinita Hegwood (HEG'-wood).

Hegwood, who's black, taught English at Duncanville High School prior to the tweets posted Friday with derogatory references about whites.

A Duncanville ISD statement says Hegwood met with district officials Monday and was suspended without pay pending discharge. The statement condemned the "reprehensible personal opinions" on Hegwood's personal social media account.

No publicly listed phone number could immediately be located Wednesday for Hegwood.

Michael Brown, who was 18, was fatally shot by a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer on Aug. 9, leading to community unrest.
