Ribbon Cutting for Cricket Home in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) — A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set in Lubbock for the restored childhood home of one the members of Buddy Holly's band, The Crickets.
The ribbon-cutting for drummer Jerry Allison's childhood home is set for Friday. The home where Allison and Holly wrote the hit "That'll Be the Day" has undergone a $148,000 renovation and been moved to the grounds of the Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock, the hometown of the legendary 1950s singer.

The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal (http://bit.ly/1elkSJi ) reports drummer Allison and the other Crickets — standup bass player Joe B. Mauldin and singer Sonny Curtis — were in Lubbock Thursday to share their memories of the house.

Holly was killed Feb. 2, 1959, in an Iowa plane crash that also claimed 28-year-old J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson and 17-year-old Ritchie Valens.
