At approximately 12:52 a.m., San Angelo Police and Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the intersection for the report of a major motor vehicle crash with entrapment.

Upon arrival, Officers discovered a white 2013 Chrysler 200 resting on its roof with its driver unresponsive.  Officers and bystanders attempted to gain access to the driver but the vehicle’s doors were not functioning.  Fire Department personnel arrived and utilized the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver, who was later identified as Jennifer Wall, 36, of San Angelo.  Wall was the only occupant.

Wall was transported to Shannon Medical Center where she later succumbed to her injuries.  Justice of the Peace Susan Werner responded to the hospital to formally pronounce Wall deceased.  Next of kin has been notified.

Investigators with the Department’s Traffic Section were summoned to the scene and their preliminary investigation shows Wall was traveling westbound in the 1600 block of Grand Canal Road when her vehicle left the roadway, traveled across a private drive and collided with a utility pole and surrounding trees.  The force of the collision caused the vehicle to overturn and come to rest on its roof.  Wall was not wearing a seatbelt.  Investigators believe alcohol may be a contributing factor to the crash.

Traffic in the area was diverted for several hours and representatives from AEP responded to the scene to address the damaged pole, which caused power outages to surrounding neighborhoods.
