Texas Tech Drops Virtual Golf Game For NCAA Championship Weekend
If you're video game inclined and a Red Raider fan do I have a game for you!
The Texas Tech Men's Golf team is playing for an NCAA Championship this weekend and in honor of that Texas Tech released a 10 hole 'Texas Tech Red Raider Open' so everyone can play along. The rules are simple enough, get the ball in the hole, just like regular golf.
It's not exactly like real golf though, there's no par, you're just playing for stars and points. There are also floating greens and more hills than your average West Texas golf course. The game also includes Red Raider staples like Will Rogers and Soapsuds, Raider Red, and various Texas Tech related fun along the way.
If you make it through the 10 hole course on top of the leaderboard you'll have the opportunity to win prizes like an autographed mini helmet, polos, hats, and more. The leaderboard will be active through Memorial Day so get your practice in this weekend!
Let's not forget the real golf though, the NCAA Championship Tournament is a four-day event. The first three days feature 18-holes of stroke play before the field gets cut to 15 teams for the fourth round of golf. From there the top eight teams will advance to match-play which will decide the Team Champion on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 1st and 2nd.
Texas Tech brings five golfers to the party to represent the Double T at the Grayhawk Golf Club's Raptor Course in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The Red Raiders include Ludvig Aberg, Kyle Hogan, Garrett Martin, Andy Lopez and Baard Skogen.
Texas Tech will tee off the first round Friday morning, May 28th, at 6:32 a.m. Arizona time in a pairing with the Arkansas Razorbacks and San Diego State. Future pairings will be decided by the previous day's action. Texas Tech will tee off at 11:52 a.m. Arizona Time on Saturday with the Sunday pairings decided after the first two rounds.
The Golf Channel will broadcast the individual championship round on Monday and the match-play rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday.
