The Joey McGuire Era in Lubbock, Texas is officially underway after a thrilling flyover and an offensive explosion.

Even before the flyover, Joey McGuire and the Red Raiders walked through a mass of fans as the Raider Walk made its return to Jones AT&T Stadium.

Plenty of Red Raider fans were on hand for the occasion. The Raider Walk tradition was started during Tommy Tuberville's run at Texas Tech and is something that's prevalent in SEC Country. Look forward to Raider Walk at the rest of the Texas Tech home games. If you want to participate, head to the southwest corner of the stadium and line up to greet the team before around 2 hours before kickoff.

The Raider Walk and flyover were the start of the McGuire Era, but the fireworks and jet fuel continued with Zach Kittley's offense. Through the first half against Murray State, Texas Tech scored touchdowns on all six of their drives. Two Tyler Shough touchdown passes (before he left with an injury), two Donovan Smith touchdown passes, and a pair of Tahj Brooks touchdowns.

Kittley looked great in his debut half after coming home to Lubbock and Texas Tech. The Red Raiders piled up 389 yards in six touchdown drives, with 272 yards through the air and 117 yards on the ground. Texas Tech didn't face a single 4th down on any of their first-half drives as they moved down the field with ease.

The defense wasn't quite as sharp, but a 42-10 lead feels like a great opening scene for Joey McGuire and this new coaching staff.

These buildings might be unassuming from the outside, but the kitchens absolutely know what's going on. I wasn't as strict on this one as I was on my 34th Street version which you can read if you keep scrolling, but I defend my choices below. If you can get a cash loan in the same strip mall as your pizza, it might be a Hole in the Wall.

The 10 Best 'Hole in the Wall' Restaurants on 34th Street in Lubbock

34th Street is known locally as "where the work gets done," but it's also where the eats go down. (Side note: I also might be the only one that says that because nobody else I know remembers that.) Back to the point, these buildings might be unassuming from the outside, but the kitchens absolutely know what's going on.
