San Angelo's National Prayer Breakfast Has Been Canceled

Just when it seemed like things were getting back to somewhat normal they cancel a very popular event, albeit for a legitimate reason, it is still a bummer.

The National Prayer Breakfast has been canceled for 2021 in San Angelo.

The event was originally scheduled to take place Feb. 4th, 2021 at the McNease Convention Center, located at 501 Rio Concho Drive.

A news release alludes to the current number of COVID-19 cases being one of the main factors:

"In consideration of the health and safety for our community, organizers of the National Prayer Breakfast of San Angelo have rescheduled the local annual event until next year,"

Organizers are expecting the event to continue next year, though. In no way does this mean the event is canceled permanently.

Next year's breakfast will be held Feb. 3rd, 2022, with Dr. Tony Evans as the keynote speaker.

Dr. Evans is a pastor, speaker, author, and widely syndicated radio and television personality and currently serves as senior pastor to the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas, which has close to 10,000 members.

The National Prayer Breakfast is a yearly event held in Washington D.C., usually on the first Thursday in February.

The event became so popular in the U.S. over the years thatboth Australia and the UK have their own version of the event.

Presidents, congressman, and powerful business owners are known to be in attendance at the main event held in Washington, D.C.

Now they have one in just about every city in America, so San Angelo would naturally be no different.
