There Will Be No Double Moon On August 27th
The latest hoax to go around is that there will be a "double moon" at the end of the month.
This "double moon" is supposed to be the moon and mars appearing together, giving the appearance of two moons. This will not happen ever, unless for some brief second Mars spins out of orbit and comes colliding toward Earth, resulting in something "really cool" before the world is smashed into smithereens.
According to Earth/Sky, the biggest Mars will ever seem is about 1/140th the size of the moon.
There is a full moon on August 26th, however. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, it's most commonly known as the "Full Sturgeon Moon," but since we don't have many fish here in Lubbock, let's go with the "Blueberry Moon."
