Before Stephen F. Austin and Texas Tech kicked off the University of Texas Tech had a ceremony in honor of the tragic 20th anniversary of the terrorist attack on September 11th, 2001. The ceremony featured an emotional song from a trio of bagpipes and a 21-gun salute. There was also this C-130 flyover to cap off the National Anthem.

The flyover was a highlight in a half with not many more. At least for Texas Tech.

After the Red Raiders took a three-play drive the distance to open the game with a 76-yard touchdown throw to Erik Ezukanma, QB Tyler Shough threw for less than 30-yards for the rest of the half. He also threw a pick-6, which allowed SFA to tie the game at 7.

Texas Tech would also turn the ball over on a muffed punt, which led to a field goal for the Lumberjacks. The Red Raiders then gave up a second field goal to trail 13-7 at halftime.

The first half was not great for the Red Raiders, obviously, but there's another half to go. If Matt Wells can't muster a big half out of the guys, then this could get ugly for the head coach in Lubbock with calls for his seat to warm. I think the Texas Tech team can weather the storm here, but it's never good to start slow in back-to-back games to open the season, regardless of how many transfers are on the team.

Sonny Cumbie's offense needs to lead the way in the second half for Texas Tech to move into Week 3 feeling good.
