Your dentist encouraged you to floss. Your parents taught you how and then told you to floss. Lord knows, you try your best to keep up this good habit because is is supposed to be good for teeth and gums and get rid of plaque.

Now an investigative report by the Associated Press shows that all those hours spent each year flossing away, may be for not.

This report from AP, focuses on 25 studies comparing the use of a toothbrush alone to a combination of using a toothbrush along with floss. The majority of the studies fail to show that flossing is a deterrent to plaque build up.

On the other hand, companies such as Procter & Gamble as well as, Johnson & Johnson, contend that their floss helps to fight or remove plaque. Of course they would, because they need you to keep buying the product.

So, what do you think? Is flossing worth it? We'll leave it up to you.
