Youngster Shot To Death New Year’s Day

HOUSTON (AP) — A 12-year-old boy has been killed and two others wounded in a shooting at a home north of Houston.  

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that gunshots were reported at the home Thursday afternoon in north Harris County.

A 23-year-old man was shot multiple times and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. An 18-year-old man was grazed by a bullet and treated at a hospital.

The 12-year-old was identified as Deunte Cooks.

It remained unclear Friday what prompted the shooting and authorities have not explained the relationship between the boy and the older men. Houston broadcast reports say they were brothers.
