The biennial UIL realignment was released Monday morning for all UIL-participating high schools in Texas.

With four West Texas high schools dropping from 6A to 5A (Amarillo, Lubbock, Monterey & Coronado), the UIL had to come up with some creative solutions for 6A and 5A districts. Abilene High was moved from a West Texas district to a Metroplex district to reduce travel for Amarillo Tascosa.

In another move to alleviate travel for both Amarillo Tascosa and San Angelo Central, Central was assigned to a Central Texas district for Basketball-only.  Central will probably play Spring Sports in District 8-6A as well.
