Bank Fraud Case To Be Retried

DALLAS (AP) — A retrial has begun for a North Texas man originally sentenced to two years in prison after being convicted in a $300,000 bad checks case.  

The Dallas Morning News (http://bit.ly/1tWDiIR ) reported Tuesday that, during appeals, authorities determined a prosecutor failed to turn over some evidence in Jason Dvorin's first trial.

Dvorin in 2013 was convicted of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, sentenced to prison and ordered to repay nearly $112,000.

Prosecutors denied allegations that Dvorin did not get a fair trial, but agreed to the retrial to avoid lingering questions of fairness. Opening statements began Monday with a different prosecution team.

Chris Derrington, who was with Pavillion Bank in Richardson, in 2012 pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud. Derrington was sentenced to probation and ordered to repay $778,000.
