City of San Angelo News Updates
Here's the latest information from the City of San Angelo.
Watering restrictions change April 1
Outside watering will be allowed twice every seven days beginning Saturday, April 1, in keeping with the City’s drought contingency ordinance.
San Angelo is under standard conservation, which limits watering to twice every seven days from April 1 through Oct. 31, but prohibits watering from noon to 6 p.m. By ordinance, watering restrictions tighten to once every seven days from Nov. 1 through March 31. Watering is limited to no more than 1 inch per week.
It is always a violation to allow water to run more than 150 feet down any street, gutter, alley or ditch.
Watering violations can be reported to the Code Compliance Division at cosatx.us/water, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, or by calling 325-277-8906 or 325-657-4409.
San Angelo has 36 months of available water supply. That figure includes water from the Hickory Aquifer and assumes no runoff into the city’s surface water supplies.
San Angelo relies upon O.H. Ivie and Twin Buttes reservoirs, and Lake Nasworthy as its primary water sources. As of March 26, Ivie was at 25 percent capacity, Twin Buttes was at 19 percent and Nasworthy 82 percent. O.C. Fisher Reservoir was at 13 percent.
San Angelo has received 2.75 inches of rainfall to date this year. Normally, San Angelo averages 3.56 inches through March 26. Last year, the city had received 4.13 inches by that date.

Town hall on homelessness rescheduled for April 4
A town hall gathering on San Angelo’s homeless issue has been rescheduled for April 4, to avoid a conflict with a mayoral candidate forum Tuesday evening.

At the forum on homelessness, City officials will talk about the difference between the homeless population and panhandlers, and potential solutions for relocating the tent dwellers along the river under a Houston Harte Expressway overpass. That site belongs to the Texas Department of Transportation. The San Angelo Police Department lacks the authority to formally address the situation at this time.
The City of San Angelo is engaged with the Concho Valley Homeless Coalition to address the community’s homeless issue and assist homeless individuals who are seeking assistance. The coalition includes organizations such as the Salvation Army, MHMR and the Housing Authority of San Angelo.
