At 1055pm San Angelo Police Officers responded to the intersection of 33rd & Bryant for a report of a vehicle accident involving three vehicles.  Upon arrival officers discovered that one of the passengers was deceased.
Reports indicate that a 2009 Mazda RX8 being driven by Gary Coleman was travelling southbound on N. Bryant and attempted to turn left on to 33rd St.   The Mazda pulled in front of a 2012 Dodge Truck that was travelling northbound on Bryant and was struck on the passenger side of the vehicle.  The Mazda then collided with a 2005 Ford Ranger that was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection.

Coleman and his son were transported to Shannon Hospital for non life threatening injuries and admitted to the hospital.  Coleman’s passenger, a 61 year old white male, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Eddie Howard.

The driver of the Dodge Truck, Brandon Churchwell was treated and release at the scene by paramedics.

Neither one of the passengers in third vehicle were injured as a result of the crash. These subjects were identified as Joshua Fulton and Melissa Moreno.

Investigators believe alcohol to have been a contributing factor in this crash.  Coleman refused to cooperate with the investigators.  Due the death in the accident a blood sample was taken from Coleman.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending the next of kin being notified.

Det. Callum and Traffic Officer M. Gesch are investigating the accident.  Charges against Coleman are pending at this time.
