Hey Texas Rangers, It’s Time to Stop Messing Around

The Texas Rangers are a really bad baseball team. Not historically bad, not the worst in baseball, but they are a really bad baseball team. That's not the worst thing to be in the Major Leagues, because time has proven that you can be bad on purpose in order to develop young players, draft at the top of the draft and eventually be good again.

The Houston Astros are a prime example. They suffered multiple 100-loss seasons in a row only to quickly gel once their team got some experience and now they have a World Series championship to show for it. The Chicago White Sox and San Diego Padres are two more teams who suffered through bad seasons but have now come out on the other side of the mediocrity with young stars who played on bad teams and are now hungry for big things.

The Texas Rangers are well into being bad, they own the number two MLB draft pick this season for a reason, but they have yet to fully commit to the tank. They can do that by making room for the top prospects to get solid playing time at the Major League level.

Adolis Garcia has been the best player for the Rangers this season and he'd be in the Minors if not for injuries and depth issues. It's time to see who else in the organization at the minor league level can cut it and play along with the young stars like Garcia and Isaiah Kiner-Falefa.

The Rangers could start by DFA'ing or selling off the veterans in the lineup that don't have a future. David Dahl, Nate Lowe, Charlie Culberson, and even Joey Gallo all have varying trade value without a lot of potential to be future pieces. Gallo was once thought to be a player to build around, but the production hasn't matched the hype consistently yet.

That would make room for the Rangers' number one prospect Josh Jung and other prospects like Davis Wendzel and Steele Walker to get some run at the majors. What's the worst that could happen? They struggle early? The team is already bad. They aren't making the playoffs without the future stars, so why prolong the inevitable?
