We’ve all been there at one point or another. You paint the house and have no idea about how to dispose of the old paint. Then you must figure out what to do with the pile of old tires behind the shed. This event can solve your junk issues!
The City of Temple’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event is This Weekend!
Wake up early this coming Saturday for the event that will last from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Temple Solid Waste Complex at 2611 E. Ave. H in Temple.
What Items Are Considered Hazardous Materials?
According to the City of Temple website,Flammables,Corrosives,Pesticides,Herbicides,Fertilizers, Automotive fluids, Batteries, Propane, Computers/Monitors, Unused prescription drugs,and TV's can be turned in. For the complete list, visit the City of Temple website.
Just Show Up and the City of Temple Will Do the Rest!
According to the City of Temple, this Saturday's event will work as a contactless drive thru. When you arrive, stay in the car and the city will do the rest. Make sure that containers are no bigger than five gallons with a maximum total of fifteen gallons per person. Four tires up to 17" in size can be disposed of for free. Larger tires and extra tires will incur a fee.
The EPA Proposes New Rules for Solar panel and Lithium Battery Disposal
There has been much debate about what to do with solar panels and lithium batteries when they are no longer of us. According to the EPA, some end-of-life solar panels contain enough lead to meet the definition of hazardous waste under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. The EPA is is also updating lithium battery universal waste standards in response to the growing number of fires caused by lithium-ion batteries in the disposal process.
