The Texas City With The HEB Floral Department on Speed Dial
Texans loved their take-out food orders in 2025. But what were we eating?
Favor Analysis
Food delivery app Favor looked back at 2025 to determine what Texans were eating in abundance. It is interesting to note that the favorites vary by region...but in a state as big as Texas, we are talking about a whole other country!
Most Popular Overall Dish
If you are looking at the Lonestar State as a whole, Tacos came out on top. It makes sense. Because there are so many taco variations, everyone can find a favorite. Coming in second and third are burgers and fries.
Most Popular Dip
Chili’s Restaurant learned about the most popular dip when they decided to remove it from their menu this past year. Thankfully, they reinstated it after an uproar. If you haven’t guessed it yet, queso took the top spot in the dip category. Salsa and guacamole came in second and third.
Most Popular Beverage
This category winner floored me. I grew up in south Louisiana where coffee is king. I started drinking coffee at the age of four. Afternoons in my family meant drinking coffee and talking about the day’s events. When I moved to Texas, everybody was a tea person. That is why I am so surprised that coffee has beaten out tea for the number one position. Dr Pepper comes in second, and tea is relegated to third place.
Top Orders by City
Austin
Starting with the Texas Capitol of Austin, migas taco orders reigned supreme. Most orders were also placed with local restaurants rather than big chains.
DFW Meroplex
In the Dallas Fort Worth area, fajitas are the name of the game. DFW area residents are also big fans of edamame, placing orders twelve times the amount of other Texas cities.
Houston
The standout quality in Houston is not so much for its food choices but rather its gratitude for food delivery. Houston beats out other Texas urban areas in tipping. Houstonites are also big on saying “Thank You”.
San Antonio
This city had the most orders with added jalapenos and maybe it was because of that the sale of Shirley temples was through the roof. City residents ordered seven times the amount of other Texas cities. HEB in San Antonio saw the most bouquets being ordered. I get it. My husband buys my flowers from HEB and not only are they beautiful, but they are also the longest lasting flowers I have ever received.
