More Big D Money Available Toward CAF Planned Move

DALLAS (AP) — A vintage military aviation group relocating from West Texas to Dallas could get more money from the city.   

The Dallas City Council voted to give the Commemorative Air Force up to $2 million for its move from Midland International Airport. The CAF plans to set up headquarters at to Dallas Executive Airport with the hope of drawing more visitors to an urban area.

The Dallas Morning News (http://bit.ly/1slwtNa ) reports the CAF is eligible for the funds, approved Wednesday, if it builds a museum and hangar at the airport by the end of 2020. The structure would have to cover at least 35,000 square feet.

Council members last month approved a separate $700,000 relocation grant, contingent on the CAF employing 30 people and basing nine aircraft at Dallas Executive Airport.
